DROITWICH’S first ever Youth Festival takes place from midday to 5pm in the Lido Park tomorrow.
Young people from the Droitwich Spa Youth Council, which has 50 members from the the town’s high school and two middle schools, have organised the event, deciding the activities for the line-up, costing it and undertaking the PR.
The extravaganza will feature live music performed by local bands with two headline acts which the organisers are remaining tight-lipped about.
There will also be bouncy castles, outdoor activities, face-painting and a variety of food and drink.
Coun Sital Harris, who has helped organise the event, said she was so proud of the young people.
“I’m absolutely delighted with what the kids have achieved.
“They can’t believe how close it is now and can’t wait for it to start.
“They have worked so hard on this event which will be enjoyed by young people and families from across Droitwich.
“We just want as many people as possible to come along and enjoy it.”
Coun Richard Morris added: “I’m proud of the Youth Council and what they have accomplished and I’m sure it will be a big success.
“I would also like to thank Sital for her motivation and encouragement which has made it possible.”
If the event is successful, it is hoped it will become an annual occurrence.
Youth Fest has been organised in association with Droitwich Spa Town Council, Wychavon District Council and Worcestershire County Council.
There has also been a lot of support from local businesses, with Andrew Grant estate agents the main sponsor.
