Droitwich Inner Wheel raised £1,500 for the St John Ambulance

THE INNER Wheel Club of Droitwich Spa has raised £1,500 for the local St John Ambulance branch.

And at last month’s meeting, president Glenys Griffiss handed the cash over to charity representative Richard Brown.

There was then a business meeting chaired by Glenys who will preside over the club for a second year after gaining the full support of members.

Those gathered heard 35 members had enjoyed a lovely lunch at the refurbished Lord Morton’s Tea Room, raising £258.

The Race Night on May 24 had also been a great success, raising £525 with profits shared between Inner Wheel and Rotary.

The summer barbeque at vice-president Lynda Gillespie’s house was well attended and enjoyed by all despite the rain.

Reports were given by the international service organiser, the correspondent and membership service organiser.

Members were all in favour of the proposal by the treasurer to sponsor Worcester Young Carers’ trip on the Pamela May canal boat on July 24.

President Glenys chose Young Carers as her charity this coming year and Neil Phillips from Young Carers will be the guest speaker at the July meeting.

Glenys also outlined some of the events planned for the forthcoming year including a visit to The Commandery in Worcester for a performance of Charley’s Aunt and a guided tour of Beckford Silk Mill.

With coffee mornings and many fund raising events we look forward to a new year of fun and fellowship.
