AN ILLUSTRATED talk by Heather Flack on ‘Bewdley under the White Rose’ will take place at the next meeting of the Droitwich History and Archaeology Society.
The presentation will take viewers on the journey from 1376 when Bewdley was first recognised as a town to how it became a thriving port with four gateways. These, historians think, were probably used to collect tolls.
The stone bridge built in 1447 was destroyed during the War of the Roses and locally Tickenhall Manor became Crown property in the 15th century and was used by the Tudor dynasty.
Heather has undertaken extensive research in Bewdley and Ribbenhall (on the opposite side of the River Severn) and will reveal all in this interesting talk.
The event starts at 7.30pm on September 6 and admission is £2 for members and £4 for friends and visitors.
