THE FUND-RAISERS behind the successful campaign to resurface the tennis courts at Lido Park say they are delighted to have received a £2,000 grant from Droitwich Town Council.

The Leave a Lido legacy campaign, which raised £10,000 toward the £40,000 needed has now been given the further boost just as the drive was being wrapped up.

Lead campaigner Elaine Ball said: “We can’t thank the Town Council enough for their generosity. It really goes to show that the people of Droitwich Spa are behind this campaign, it’s going to be a great free facility that will provide years of fun for everyone in the town.

Coun Alex Sinton, chairman of the town council’s Grants Appraisal Committee, added the authority was delighted to support what was ‘an excellent project’.

“Elaine Ball and her colleagues are to be congratulated on the effort they have put into developing the popular free tennis courts in the Lido Park, making them accessible to people of all ages and abilities.”

And Elaine said: “There is still time to make a donation get on our board of fame, just go to our website for more details.”
