AKW has been shortlisted for the Samsung Innovation Award for the 2017 Lloyds Bank National Business Awards.

The company, based in Droitwich, is the marketing leading manufacturer of adapted kitchen and bathroom products.

The company focused its entry on the development of its ground-breaking iCare electric care shower.

AKW’s iCare shower is the world’s first Bluetooth smart electric shower, and can be controlled wirelessly via a remote control or smartphone app.

Market leading features and technical innovations as well as unrivalled levels of control have made the iCare a successful shower for the Care sector including Care Homes and Housing Associations.

Paul Massey, AKW’s Group CEO, said: “May I pass on my personal congratulations and sincere thanks to all the staff here at AKW.

Drawing on our 29-year heritage in inclusive design of bathroom and kitchen products, every department within the business has had an invaluable part to play in the development of the iCare electric shower product.

“It is testament to our high-quality people and utilising the latest developments in technology that we have been shortlisted in this prestigious awards and I feel very proud that AKW has been recognised as one of the best in British ambition and innovation.”

AKW fought off hundreds of other businesses which were entered or nominated across 18 award categories.

They will now prepare for live presentations to an expert judging panel who will decide the overall winners.

Continuing the celebration of Best of British Ambition, this year’s prestigious award ceremony will take place on November 14 at the Grosvenor House, Park Lane, where the winners will be revealed.

Conor McGinn MP recently hosted a reception for the Lloyds Bank National Business Awards at the House of Commons. This provided finalists with the opportunity to meet fellow entrants, the National Business Awards Advisory Board members, judges (who they will present to in September) and sponsors of each category.

Tom Broughton, Group Brand Director of the Lloyds Bank National Business Awards, said: “Given the economic uncertainty over the past year, it is inspiring more than ever to see British businesses prosper.

“Through a thorough and comprehensive judging process, this year’s selected finalists demonstrate exceptional quality and diversity across a range of business sectors within the UK. We are now looking forward to the next step of the process and meeting some of the finalists face-to-face.”
