A DROITWICH care home raised more than £700 for Haven Breast Cancer Unit after two staff members were diagnosed with the disease.
Newland Hurst, on Newland Lane, held a ‘fun day’ featuring a variety of activities, including a barbecue, bouncy castle, magician, tombolas and raffles.
During a ceremony last Friday, staff handed over the cheque to Haven Breast Cancer Unit in Worcester.
Newland Hurst chose the unit as two staff members at the care home were diagnosed with breast cancer within a month of each other last year.
Both now cancer-free, support workers Denise Hilton and Helen Taylor have thanked Haven for the ‘second-to-none’ treatment they received.
Administration Assistant, Alison Smith, said: “Both residents and staff at Newland Hurst wanted to show their appreciation and say a big thank-you to the unit.
“It is good to do a positive thing and raise money for a good cause, everyone has done so well.”
