A CHARITY golf day held at Gaudet Luce in Droitwich looks set to raise £2,000 for the Dot Com Children’s Foundation.

The event on October 12 was organised by former Aston Villa footballer Neil Rioch and Paul Burrell.

More than 80 golfers took part with a shotgun start, including ‘Beat the Pro’ on the second hole and longest putt competition as teams left the 18th.

The Phoenix Course welcomed a host of players from both the local area and further afield, including a number of former professional footballers, managers and referees.

Impressively former Villa player and Manager of Walsall FC, Ray Graydon, hit a hole in one on the sixth hole, winning him the ‘Nearest the Pin’ contest.

After a competitive game, fourball BSS/Grundfos were announced as the winners with 88 points. The team included Danny Silcock, Dave Preece, Shaun Houston and former Wimbledon and Bolton Wanderers player Dean Holdsworth.

Other winners included Anthony Snookes as Best Guest Golfer, former Villa and WBA captain Darren Bradley as Best Former Footballer, with Darren Pitts winning the Longest Drive and Dave Preece winning the Longest Putt.

The Dot Com foundation was set up to teach children self-esteem, safety and good values.

Cash raised will be used to help the foundation to reach as many children as possible with its learning programme.
