THE DROITWICH Men’s C team continued their 100 per cent start to the new Herefordshire and Worcestershire Winter League Division Six East campaign with a solid 3-1 victory over Cutnall Green A.
Mark Pearsall and Bruce Turner produced an excellent performance to win their first match 6-0, 6-4 but were beaten 6-3, 6-7, 6-7 in an enthralling encounter in their second match.
Kevin Hodges and Bob Smith then won their first match 6-1, 6-4 before sealing the win with a 6-3, 6-1 victory in their second.
Meanwhile, the Men’s G team were narrowly beaten at home against Wollaston D in Division 11 East.
Despite the best efforts of Robin French and Chris Day, they lost both of their matches 6-7, 3-6 and 2-6, 3-6 respectively.
John Jenkins and Mark Woodget played some solid tennis and picked up two well deserved 7-6, 7-5 and 6-2, 6-4 victories.
With the scores tied on matches and sets, the final result came down to games, with Wollaston winning 42-40.
