AN EXHIBITION is being held in Droitwich to celebrate the creations of the Saltway Quilters (SWQ).

The group, which meets twice a month, encourages each other to further their knowledge and enjoy all aspects of patchwork, quilting and associated crafts through regular meetings, group projects, arranging workshops, lectures and outings.

The next exhibition will be from 10am to 4pm on November 11 to 12 at Ombersley Memorial Hall. Entrance is £3 which will go towards Marie Curie.

Christmas gifts will be on sale and guests can take part in a raffle and tombola.

There will also be a Quilters Guild Travelling Trunks containing patchwork and quilted textiles from The Quilters’ Guild Collection ‘Textile Treasures’.

It contains some treasured objects from the 19th and 20th Centuries which have been kept and preserved.

During meetings, members take part in ‘Sit and Sew’ and Block of the Month sessions, ‘Workshops’ and ‘Do Your Own Thing’ days, as well as an annual ‘Chairman’s Challenge’.

Secretary Shirley Price said: “It is important to us that any visitor or potential new member is made to feel at ease and able to settle in with current members.

“We do encourage anyone who is interested in joining our group to visit on at least two occasions before asking if they would like to become a member.

“We want everyone to feel ‘at home’ and be able to speak to anyone within our group, whatever their skill level ‘Everyone has to start somewhere’.”

SWQ meets twice a month (every second and fourth Wednesday) from 7.30pm onwards in the John Corbett Room, Droitwich Community Centre, Heritage Way.
