A PLEA has been made by the Droitwich AED group for Standard readers to help them in their quest of securing around £5,000 from Aviva’s Community fund.
The group is campaigning and fund-raising to put more 24-hour accessible defibrillators in Droitwich so they are there when people need them.
The Aviva cash would pay for three CU SP-1 defibrillators and three external cabinets so they can be Community Public Access Defibrillators (CPADs) and accessible 24/7.
The money would also fund three SP-1 trainer defibrillators and some new Brayden lluminated manikins to help with the free Basic Life Support (BLS) training courses and other subsidised first aid courses.
The new CPADs would be sited on WANDS Children’s Centre, to cover the Westlands estate, at St Peter’s Scout Hut, to serve the Cockshute Hill/Winslow Avenue estates and at SN Financial Services, covering lower Saltway and Vines Park.
Peter Richards, Droitwich AED’s chair of trustees, said: “If we get to Aviva’s judging panel in December I am sure we will have a good chance of being awarded a grant.
“But to get to the judging panel we first have to be subject to a public vote.
“Thousands of projects have applied for these grants, and undoubtedly they are all worthwhile.
“Some of them no doubt will be from bigger towns and cities with larger voting populations so it is important Droitwich people get behind us.”
Visit https://www.avivacommunityfund.co.uk/voting/project/view/17-2707 to vote for Droitwich AED.
The closing date for votes is November 20.
