A FESTIVE community lunch will be put on in Wychbold for Droitwich residents who have no one to spend Christmas Day with.
A small group of local residents have got together to put on the event at Wychbold Community Hall, School Lane, for the elderly, lonely, divorced, separated or people that, for one reason or another, would like to attend.
Tina Dutson, who had the idea for the lunch and is one of the organising group, told The Standard: “We decided it would be nice to bring the community together for Christmas.
“Whether you fancy doing something a bit different this year or you would otherwise be spending Christmas Day on your own, or you just want somewhere inviting for all the family, everyone is included and welcome.
“Come and join us, meet neighbours and friends and enjoy a delicious dinner that won’t cost the earth.
“Be entertained by our community’s budding musicians and, above all, let’s have a wonderful Christmas to remember.”
A local musician has pledged her time on the day but the organisers would love to hear from any other performers who would like to be part of the event.
There have also been several sponsors come forward which have helped support the venture including Purple Granite, Quick Grass, Chris the Carpet – carpet fitter – and the Little Owl Farm Park in Ombersley.
“They have all been very generous towards what we are doing and we are grateful to them all.
“But we would love to hear from any other businesses or organisations, as well as residents, who could help or would like to be involved in the day,” added Tina.
Anyone wanting more information, anyone who could offer help and any performers wanting to be involved should email Tina at [email protected] or call her on 07908 385308.
Tina would also like to hear from residents who could identify people who would be interested in going to the Christmas Day lunch.
