A NUMBER of religious statues were stolen from a garden nursery in Martin Hussingtree.
The incident happened between 5.30pm on Saturday and at 9am on Sunday in Ash Lane.
The thieves gained access to the premises by getting across an adjacent field and a private garden before climbing over the fence.
They then lifted the fence panel and stole the white, marble effect statues, from an outdoor display.
Among the statues were one of Jesus wearing a crown of thorns.
Damage was also caused to a fork lift truck during the incident. The wires were cut and the battery was stolen.
No access was gained to the building.
