YOUNG artists from across Wychavon district are being urged to show off their creative sides and take part in ‘Visualize’ – a competition for 11 to 18-year-olds.

The theme for the contest is ‘Express YourSELF’ and the district council is asking young artists to consider how they would depict themselves through the visual arts.

Entrants can create their work in a range of 2D media including painting, drawing, photography, mixed media and street art.

The deadline for all entries to be submitted is 5pm on December 11.

Finalists will be announced and notified shortly after that date and participants will have their work exhibited at the Number 8 Arts Centre in Pershore during January 2018.

Jenny Davis, Wychavon District Council’s arts development officer, said: “I’m excited this project is returning and that young people will once again have the chance to showcase their visual artwork.

“It was great to see the local talent of the district last year at such a prestigious venue as the Number 8 Arts Centre, where hundreds of people saw the work.

“We had so many wonderful entries last year, and it was especially good considering the competition was in its first year.

“We really do have a wealth of young artistic talent in Wychavon.”

To enter, artists should e-mail up to three good quality photographs of their artwork as a jpeg or pdf file and accompany the photographs with an application form.

To receive an application form, email Jenny Davis at [email protected] or call 01386 565396. All entries must be submitted before the deadline.

Entries will only be accepted if they are sent by email and the application form has been completed.
