AT THE last meeting of the Inner Wheel Club of Droitwich Spa members welcomed Standard editor Tristan Harris as the guest speaker.
At the start of the evening the candle of friendship was lit and a three-course meal was enjoyed.
Accomplished and experienced speaker Tristan entertained and informed members on how the newspaper was put together each week.
Members also learnt about the qualifications taken to become a newspaper reporter and eventually an editor along with the ‘who, what, where, when, why’ newspaper mantra.
Tristan also spoke specifically about the Droitwich edition, the popularity of the letters page, print deadlines and the excitement of getting exclusives which went on to appear in the nationals.
Tristan talked about his enjoyment of cooking and creating dishes to his fellow dinner guests with members asking if his culinary enthusiasm could lead to a regular cookery feature in the paper.
Lynda Gillespie expressed her vote of thanks for an enjoyable and entertaining evening.
