A DROITWICH Police Constable has won a prestigious award.
PC Richard Rees, from the Droitwich Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT), has been awarded the Annual Police Trophy for displaying exemplary professionalism and persistence in reducing risks to the community.
Richard was nominated for his dedication to Westland’s most vulnerable and, whilst listening to the community’s concerns, gathered a true picture of the estate’s problems and raised these concerns with colleagues, enabling him to take action and protect the public.
Through his patience, PC Rees obtained warrants and made arrests, taking drugs off the streets.
PC Rees won the trust of the community and supported them, showing fairness and a skill for communication.
Chairman for Wychavon, Coun Liz Eyre, said: “I was extremely pleased to present Richard with this award.
“His commitment to his work is evident in everything that he does. It’s great to see that he is having a positive effect on the community.”
Insp Gareth Morgan said: “PC Rees has demonstrated his desire to ensure that Wychavon remains a safe place to work, visit and live.
“He has listened to principal community concerns and acted on these by way of multi-agency enforcement days.
“The nomination reflects his commitment to the people of Wychavon.”
The award was presented at PC Rees at the full Wychavon District Council meeting on December 13.
