A DROITWICH charity which aims to provide much-needed defibrillators across the town has received £500 from Aviva Community Funding.

Droitwich AED (Automated External Defibrillators) will use the donation towards the installation of new 24/7 Community Public Access Defibrillators (CPADs) for WANDS Children’s Centre, to cover the Westlands Estate, and St Peters Scout Hall.

The charity, which formed a year ago, was vying to secure a grant of up to £5,000 from the Aviva Community Fund and received the £500.

Peter Richards, Droitwich AED’s chair of trustees, said: “To everyone who helped support our application, thank you all very much.

“We will try again next year and hopefully manage to generate more interest and get more locals to vote then.”

Two CPADs are set to be installed on Droitwich Spa Nursery and Kindergarten and the Salvation Army Shop, with another due to go at the town’s Esso garage next month,

Places are still available for the Free Basic Life Support Courses on February 2 and the £30 One-Day Emergency First Aid Course.
