A NURSE from Droitwich’s Salters Medical Practice has been shortlisted for a prestigious award.
Clare Helm, the Practice Nurse Team Lead, is nominated for Mentor of the Year at the Students Nursing Times Awards.
It is one of three awards for the University of Worcester’s nurse training course which has been named Nurse Education Provider of the Year for the fifth time in six years.
Winyates Health Centre in Redditch, which offers work experience, has been nominated for Student Placement of the Year.
The nursing students study three of the major fields of health practice – adult, children’s and mental health.
The achievement illustrates students are comprehensively trained and that the university’s students are starting to raise the standards of professional nursing, both whilst they are still students, and after further study or going into the workplace.
Robert Dudley, the university’s head of nursing, said he was thrilled to have been shortlisted for the three accolades.
“It is a real positive for the people and their Health Service to have outstanding new nurses who are not only equipped with the skills to know what to do but who are equally adept at thinking about why and how.”
The winners from the nominations will be announced at a ceremony in London on April 26.
