DROITWICH ArtsFest is bidding to bag a massive cash boost from the Tesco Bags of Help scheme to help make this year’s festival ‘bigger and better’ than ever.
The supermarket scheme, in partnership with Groundwork, offers grants of up to £4,000, raised by plastic carrier bag sales.
ArtsFest, delivered by the Droitwich Arts Network (DAN), is one of three to be shortlisted for the cash boost and shoppers can vote in Tesco stores for the one they want to win.
This year’s festival will run from June 30 to July 28, offering a variety of activities for all ages, including events for families and youngsters, ‘Arts in View’, spoken word, music, dance, and interactive art.
ArtsFest organiser Rhys Jones said: “ArtsFest aims to engage the public in a wide range of art forms.
“Many events will be free to attend and most in the open air.
“Additional funding of up to £4,000 from the Tesco scheme will allow us to deliver even more exciting events and arts related activities.”
Voting has opened in Tesco stores in Droitwich and Worcester and runs until April 30.
As well as Tesco Express in Droitwich, shoppers can vote at Worcester’s superstore in St Peters Drive, the Warndon Superstore at Mill Wood Drive, Foregate Street Express, Warndon Express at Brindley Road, Henwick Park Express in Martley Road, and Larkhill Esso Express in London Road.
Groundwork’s National Chief Executive, Graham Duxbury, said: “We’ve been thrilled to see the diversity of projects that have applied for funding, ranging from outdoor classrooms, sports facilities, community gardens, play areas and everything in between. “We’re looking forward to learning the results of the customer vote and then supporting each group to bring their project to life.”
