A DROITWICH dog has definitely had its day after taking home one of the top obedience prizes at Crufts.
Floozie, a working sheepdog and her owner Philomena Barnes from Bradley Green, scooped the Obedience Championship (Bitches) title on Saturday.
Philomena has been competing at Crufts for over 30 years and is a dog trainer in her day-to-day life.
Seven-year-old Floozie came first after competing against some of Britain’s best dogs for the coveted title.
All competitors made it through to the final from one of the 46 championship shows that hosted qualifying classes for the Crufts Obedience Championships.
Proud Philomena said: “It feels fantastic. I never thought that I would win.
“I knew I had a chance on the day because anything can happen at Crufts – that’s what makes it so magical.
“We keep on coming back to Crufts because we love it. The atmosphere is great and when moments like this happen, it is all worth it.”
Caroline Kisko, Kennel Club Secretary said: “Huge congratulations to Floozie and Philomena for their excellent Crufts win.
“Their bond was clear from their teamwork and it was fantastic to see how obedient and well trained Floozie was.
“Obedience competitors come from far and wide in the UK to showcase their skills at the show and the standard of dogs and their handlers who enter are always very impressive.”
