Residents urged to go to Droitwich Neighbourhood Plan meeting

Tristan Harris 12th Apr, 2018   0

DROITWICH residents are being invited to the next Neighbourhood Plan Group meeting to have their say on the future of the town.

With the aim of ‘creating a vision for all aspects of future development in Droitwich’, the meeting will be held at 7.30pm to 9pm next Thursday, April 19, in the John Corbett Room at Droitwich Community Hall.

Chaired by Coun Richard Morris, the Neighbourhood Plan is broken down into sub groups working on planning, green open spaces, sports, recreation and leisure, transport and infra structure, as well as environment, health and education and heritage.

Droitwich Town Council has now assured the Droitwich Neighbourhood Plan Group there will be a plan for the town by employing planning consultant, Peter Hamilton of Cass Associates.

Peter Hamilton has successfully supported the North Claines Neighbourhood Plan and is in the later stages of the Malvern Plan.

Coun Morris said: “I often hear people say what is the point, we don’t have a voice or it will happen any way.

“We now have a real opportunity to make an impact locally and shape the future for us and future generations.”

The completed plan will be subject to a public referendum and will not be adopted until this process has been completed, once completed, the Neighbourhood Plan will have the force of law.

“The timing could not be better for our town,” added Coun Morris.

“There is now a review of the South Worcestershire Development Plan taking us up to 2041 and our plan will influence the present day situation for residents and the future of Droitwich Spa.”
