Manager Sue bids a fond farewell to Droitwich's Westmead Care Home

THERE were plenty of tears at Droitwich’s Westmead Residential Care Home this week when much-loved manager Sue Stokes retired at the age of 62.

She began her care career in her late teens and has been at the Sanctuary Care home since 1997.

After over two decades of loyal service, Sue’s family, colleagues and the home’s residents gathered together to toast a fond farewell.

Sue’s team said: “After all of Sue’s hard work, determination, support and guidance alongside much encouragement and plenty of cushion plumping, we celebrate the 22 years that Sue has spent at Westmead – she will be greatly missed.”

Sue added: “I am so proud of my team at Westmead and the wonderful feedback we get about our home.

“I will always remember my team’s dedication – they are second to none – and the look of contentment on our residents’ faces.”

She added it had become her second home

“I know we make a difference to the lives of those we care for each day, and I am just so proud and honoured to have been a part of such a wonderful team and home.”

Sanctuary Care’s director of business development Chris Poole thanked Sue for her dedication and wished her well.

Sue said: “My husband retired two years ago so it’s now time to join him, and hopefully enjoy some lovely holidays, trips to National Trust sites and watch our grandchildren grow.”
