Josie's work goes on display at Droitwich Library to raise funds for St Richard's Hospice

AN EXHIBITION of work created by a Droitwich artist who lost her cancer battle last year has gone on display to raise funds for the charity which helped her, writes Ellen Heaselgrave.

Josie Holland was diagnosed with thyroid cancer and, following radiotherapy, she was admitted to St Richard’s Hospice at Home team before she passed away in September, aged 91.

Despite her condition, the home team allowed Josie to remain a prolific artist and still attend art classes twice a week until two months before she died.

Now her family have put the display on at Droitwich Library in her memory.

It began on Wednesday and runs until June 29, showcasing Josie’s canvasses and sketchbooks.

Barbara Dovey, Droitwich Library’s team leader, said: “We are delighted to be able to exhibit and offer for sale more than 50 of her works.”

Fiona Heath, Josie’s daughter said: “Mum would be so happy to think some of her work could be used to help repay all the care and kindness she received in her last months.”

St Richard’s is an independent charity which provides end-of-life care to patients with life-limiting illnesses, allowing people like Josie to live as independently as possible for as long as they can.
