Droitwich and Worcester runners taking on half-marathon in memory of their dad

A FIRST time runner from Droitwich will be attempting the Worcester half marathon with her brother in memory of their dad who died of lung cancer.

Lisa and Jamie Stallwood are hoping to raise £700 for St Richard’s Hospice when they undertake the run on September 16.

With 13.1 miles to cover, the pair are under no illusion about the tough challenge which awaits them.

Lisa said: “Jamie has been neglecting his training of late due to watching the World Cup but now that it’s finished we are encouraging each other to do more.

“The hot weather has made it much harder to train so we’ve been trying to find the coolest parts of the day but 5am starts are really not fun.”

St Richard’s Hospice is close to Lisa and Jamie’s heart because the staff kindly cared for their 52-year-old father until his passing in 2015.

Last year they raised £1,500 for the hospice, with £425 of the total coming from Jamie’s sponsored 10k run in Worcester.

Alison Parkes, fund-raiser at St Richard’s Hospice said: “We are so grateful for the hard work and dedication from people like Jamie and Lisa.”
