Tributes paid to former Droitwich and Bromsgrove firefighter stabbed to death in Malaysia

A FORMER Hereford and Worcester firefighter has died in Malaysia after allegedly been stabbed to death.

It has been reported that John Jones’ body was found in the early hours of Thursday morning and his wife Samantha Jones was arrested on suspicion murder before being remanded in custody.

John joined HWFRS in the 1980s and during his career he worked at Bromsgrove and Kidderminster Fire Stations before being transferred to Droitwich as a Crew Commander.

He was later promoted to Watch Commander before moving to work for Devon and Somerset Fire Service.




He then retired and moved to Malaysia.

A spokesperson for Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were saddened to hear of the death in Malaysia of retired firefighter John Jones.


“Our thoughts are with his family in Worcestershire.”

A Foreign and Commonwealth Office spokesperson said: “We are supporting the family of a British man following his death in Malaysia, and are in contact with the Malaysian authorities.”
