Oliver: Crisp and Glover returns are a timely boost for Droitwich Spa

DROITWICH Spa have bolstered their ranks by re-signing midfielder Max Crisp from Alcester Town.

Crisp returns for a third stint with the Saltmen and joint-boss Wayne Oliver believes his addition ahead of Tuesday night’s League Cup clash away at Bromyard Town is a timely boost.

“We have missed a player like Max in terms of bringing some physical strength to the squad,” he said.

“We know him well and know what he is capable of so we’re glad to have him back going into the middle ten games of the season.

“He settled nicely into training last Thursday and last Saturday so it’s looking pretty good all round.”

Defender Chris Glover has also returned after spending some time away from the game due to other commitments.

“Chris had already signed forms at the start of the season but has now declared himself available so that’s like a new signing for us,” added Oliver.

Bromyard holds a special place in Oliver’s heart, with the Herefordshire club offering him his first role in senior management about a decade ago.

Despite this, the Spa joint-boss says those friendships go out the window for 90 minutes.

“I always enjoy my visits to the club,” he said.

“Obviously I have got to look at Droitwich Spa first and foremost but Bromyard’s results are the ones I check next.

“I’ll be delighted to go back there but I want to come away with a victory.

“It won’t be easy because we have not played for a while but we want to get back to our winning ways.”

Spa then return to West Midlands One action on Saturday, November 17 when they welcome Darlaston Town to Walshes Meadow.
