More Vehicle Activated Warning Signs set to appear in Droitwich

MORE Vehicle Activated Warning Signs (VAS) look set to be installed in Droitwich following concerns of dangerous driving.

Worcestershire County Council Highways has suggested two further VAS locations for the town.

The first location on Briar Mill, between Westwood Road and Ombersley Road, near Droitwich Spa High School, has been identified due to drivers speeding over a nearby mini-roundabout.

Droitwich Town councillor for Chawson, Coun Chas Murray said: “Cars are travelling at such a high-speed and don’t slow down as they approach the roundabout.

“I know residents in the area are concerned about it because you cannot easily see cars as they come round the corner.”

The second location suggested by the County Council for VAS to be installed is on Tagwell Road, near St Peter’s C Of E First School.

Droitwich officers will now look over the two areas of concern in the coming weeks before making a decision.

Meanwhile Coun Richard Morris has said he will use £3,510 of his County Councul Divisional Ward Funding to purchase additional portable VAS to use exclusively on Westwood Way and Westwood Road in Droitwich.
