DROITWICH A men’s team aced their Division One opener against David Lloyd Worcester A on Sunday.
A 10-0 victory kicked off their Winter League campaign in style, although with three of the four matches going the distance in three sets, it was a win that had to be well earned by Spa’s first team.
Matthew Baker and James Nam won the only straight-sets match of the morning, winning 7-5, 6-3 in the opener.
Lee Cowan and Scott Mortimer beat their Worcester opponents 6-1, 5-7, 6-4 in the second match, while Baker and Nam continued their good work with a 6-3, 6-7, 6-1 win to secure an overall victory.
Despite going behind in the final match, Cowan and Mortimer came back to win 5-7, 6-1, 7-6 in the final contest to complete a clean sweep of victories.
Droitwich A now wait until Sunday November 3 for their next league fixture, visiting Manor Park B.
