THE DROITWICH Spa Food and Drink Festival has won a prestigious accolade at the Visit Worcestershire Awards.
The popular event, which has now been running for seven years, took the ‘Best Festival and Event’ title.
It fought off tough competition from the RHS Malvern Spring Show, the Pershore Plum Festival, the Welland Steam and Country Rally and the Battle of Evesham Festival.
This year’s Droitwich Spa Food and Drink Festival was held over the whole weekend of June 15 and 16 and had more than 120 stalls selling local produce and creations.
Top chefs gave demonstrations, there were children’s activities, live entertainment and, for the first time, there was a chilli eating competition.
The food and drink extravaganza was the brainchild of Patrick Davis who stepped down after this year’s event.
He said: “We are so pleased with the result as we were up against some of the much bigger events.
“It echoes what I’ve always said – when it comes to food, drink and festivals, Droitwich always punches above its weight.
“I’d like to thank everyone who has supported us – both this year and at previous ones and I hope they will continue to do so in the future.”
