Thieves steal cash from independent Droitwich cafe just days after opening

THIEVES broke into a Droitwich cafe on Monday, just over a week after it had opened its doors for the first time.

Burglars entered The Button Tree cafe, based on Tagwell Road, after smashing one of its side widows.

Inside they stole an entire till, with £100 inside it, as well as an iPhone 6 which was in place so that customers could make contactless payments.

Button Tree owner Hannah Bloor said: “We’re an independent business and we had only been open 11 days before the break in.

“It feels really disappointing and unlucky to be targeted, especially as I hadn’t installed CCTV yet – something which I plan on doing very soon.

“But thanks to the kindness of local businesses we were able to re-open on the same day.”

Businesses donated a new till and a mobile phone for Hannah until she is able to get back on her feet.

Anyone with information about the incident on January 27 is urged to call the police on 101, quoting reference number 22843720.
