Early Christmas present as Worcestershire hospitals are handed £3million from the Government

HEALTH chiefs have been handed an early Christmas present with £3million from the Government to fund seven new projects at the county’s hospitals.

Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust has been handed the seven-figure sum to fund seven projects at its hospitals including £770,000 to invest in CCTV, fire and health and safety initiatives.

A total of £100,000 will be used to kick start the replacement scheme which will ultimately lead to a new boiler house to serve Aconbury West at the Worcestershire Royal.

The money is part of a £1.5billion cash boost announced by Prime Minister Boris Johnson in the summer to invest in NHS infrastructure across the UK.

While £600million will be spent on critical maintenance upgrades, the remainder will be spent on modernising mental health facilities, expanding A&E capacity and improving infection control ahead of winter.
