A MINUTE’S silence will be held at Wychavon District Council’s executive board meeting today (Wednesday, February 3) in memory of Peter Pinfield.

Mr Pinfield, who died on Friday with Covid-19, spent 32 years serving as a Wychavon councillor representing both Droitwich West and Droitwich East, having been elected in 1979.

He retired in 2014 to take up the position of Chairman of Worcestershire Healthwatch, an organisation which champions patients’ views.

He was made an Honorary Alderman in July 2017 – only the fifth person in Wychavon’s history to be given the title – in recognition of his years of dedicated service.

Coun Robert Raphael, Chairman of Wychavon District Council, said: “Peter always said the premise of local government was to make life better for the community and he dedicated his life to that cause serving as a district and county councillor as well as being involved with many organisations.

“He was a fine public servant, and he will be sadly missed. Our thoughts are with his wife Pat and family.”

The meeting will be held virtually and available to view on Wychavon’s YouTube channel.
