A KEY dismissal by Worcestershire Rapids’ Sarah Glenn helped guide England to a crushing win over New Zealand in Tuesday night’s opening one-day international.

England were clear winners by eight wickets in Christchurch to give themselves the advantage in the three-match series, much in part to the removal of New Zealand’s top-scorer Hayley Jensen (53) by Glenn to disrupt the hosts’ momentum.

The victory was a welcome return to the international stage for England Women, who have remained grounded by the coronavirus pandemic, quickly shaking off any rustiness to impress on their first appearance in 437 days.

Glenn recorded figures of 1-18 from her 37 balls bowled, something which she will hope to build on in tomorrow night’s second ODI, prior to the conclusion of the series on Saturday night.
