Walking tennis sessions start up in Droitwich during Wimbledon fortnight

Droitwich Editorial 5th Jul, 2021   0

WITH Wimbledon in full swing this week where serves of more than 130mph are prevalent, a slower version of the sport is being introduced to Droitwich.

The court at the Lido Park are ready to host the sessions which take place every Friday at 2pm.

People can just turn up and join in and visit lidoparktennis.co.uk for more details.

Droitwich Tennis Club coach Neil Gates said: “Walking tennis is suitable for anyone who wants to get active, but for whatever personal reason is looking for a less intense form of exercise.

“Played on a full sized tennis court, but with some innovative changes to the regular game, walking tennis is no less skilful than the main stream game but without the power.

“It is one of the fastest growing walking sports in the UK and we think it is a great addition to the community sessions that we already run, opening up the game to an even wider audience.”
