DROITWICH Police have warned motorists to step up their security after a number of attempted vehicle break-ins.

The number of incidents of opportunist thieves trying their luck has increased over the past few weeks and police say no particular type of vehicle was being targeted.

Drivers can take a few simple steps to ensure they do not become victims.

PC Warren Edmunds said: “We would ask people to ensure that their vehicles are locked, alarms are on and nothing of value is left in the vehicle.

“Any home security device-cameras should pointing towards the vehicles where possible.

“It takes a few seconds to steal from a vehicle and often these types of crimes are from unlocked vehicles so we would urge people to make sure their vehicle is locked at all times.

“We would also ask motorists to make sure items are not left on display and do not leave spare keys or sat navs in your vehicle, even in the glove box.

“Wherever possible it is also a good idea to park in will lit areas where vehicles can be well seen.”

Anyone with any information on car crime in Droitwich should call police on 101 or 999 if the crime is in progress.
