AS THE Green Flags proudly fly proudly above parks in Droitwich, residents are being urged to vote for their favourite one in Wychavon District.

Both Vines Park and Lido Park / St Peter’s Field in the town have been recognised in this year’s Keep Britain Tidy awards.

Abbey Park and Workman/Waterside Gardens in Evesham and Abbey Park in Pershore have also retained their Green Flag Award status after impressing judges.

Droitwich Community Woods, which Wychavon manages along with Worcestershire Wildlife Trust, has received the award for the second year in a row.

In light of the accolades, residents can now for their favourite Wychavon park for a People’s Choice Award, which celebrates the best loved parks on the planet.

The awards recognise well-managed parks, and green spaces. They set the benchmark standard for their management across the United Kingdom and around the world.

Coun Emma Stokes, Wychavon’s executive board member for environment, said: “Our parks and open spaces were a lifeline for many during the height of lockdown restrictions and it’s wonderful to be able to celebrate them in this way.

“To retain our Green Flag status, despite the pressures of the pandemic, is a testament to the dedication of our parks team and our contractors Continental Landscapes and Smart Cut, who have worked tirelessly throughout to maintain these high standards.

“A huge thank you to all of them. ”

People can go to www.wychavon.gov.uk/parks for more on voting for their favourite park or green area.
