AN ESTATE agent’s funding scheme which has generated more than £12,000 for schools, community groups and charities across Worcestershire has been so successful it has been extended to run throughout 2022.
Nicol and Co, which has branches in Droitwich, Malvern and Worcester, pledged £100 to a community cause of the seller’s choice for every property sold.
The firm’s managing director Matt Nicol said: “The initial idea came in the midst of Covid-19, when people were emerging from such a difficult lockdown.
“Being rooted in the community has always been part of our culture at Nicol and Co, and we were determined to continue showing that in a more regular and meaningful way.
“We’ve been overwhelmed by the positive response from both customers and local groups who all love the idea that every sale equals something good happening in the community.”
Ria Simons, fund-raiser at St Richard’s Hospice which is one of the charities to benefit, thanked Nicol and Co.
“It’s a great idea, and we know how popular it’s been because we’ve been lucky enough to receive several donations from the scheme.
“We especially like that Nicol and Co give their customers the option to choose which charity to donate to.
“At a difficult time for the charity sector, this support is very gratefully received.”
The scheme was organised and administered by Nicol and Co staff.
Leaflets about the community fund are left with potential vendors during valuation appointments.
Mr Nicol added that some vendors give Nicol and Co the honour of choosing which local group the £100 should be donated to. Any group that would like to be considered should email [email protected].
