REDROW Midlands which is building The Orchards development in Droitwich has announced it is looking for ten new apprentices to work on its projects.
Those successful will work across the Midlands, including on the Droitwich development and Kensington Gates in Worcester.
The tailored roles enable students with a passion for construction to improve their vocational skills and will focus on the different aspects of housebuilding, including bricklaying and carpentry.
Redrow Midlands’ has been running an ongoing apprenticeship scheme for the past 15 years which has proved successful.
It took on five apprentices last year, enabling them to get hands-on experience in the sector.
One apprentice Harrison Littlechild, who is in his second year of a bricklaying apprenticeship, said: “I have always wanted to be in the property industry ever since I was young.
“As soon as I finished school, I applied for a bricklaying apprenticeship and was thrilled to be offered one.”
He added Redrow was a great place to start his career and the company had given him all the tools he needed to progress in his housebuilding career.
Another apprentice Gemma Malkin, who works at the Midlands head office in Tamworth as an admin apprentice, added: “To be a good apprentice you need to be outgoing and willing to learn.
“I work with so many people within my role, and I need to be able to talk to everyone.
“At the moment, I am working in the customer services team. It is incredibly rewarding when I get to support customers and give them help if needed.”
Elaine Cartwright, Sales Director at Redrow Midlands, said: “We make a variety of opportunities available each year as part of our continuous commitment to delivering local apprenticeships, and this year, more than ever, we’re delighted to be recruiting for 10 students to join our team.
“Apprenticeships allow motivated students to jump right into a career while acquiring hands-on experience and continuing their education.
“After completing their apprenticeships, most students choose to remain with Redrow and become specialists in their profession.
“It’s wonderful to witness so many successes, such as Harrison and Gemma, who never cease to astound us with their hard work and determination.”
She added she would advise any school leavers searching for a rewarding career to apply to the Redrow programme.
