Vandals destroy tree young Archie planted in Droitwich's Spring Meadow

Droitwich Editorial 26th Apr, 2022   0

HEARTLESS vandals have destroyed a tree planted by a boy in Droitwich’s Spring Meadow.

We reported back then how Archie had planted a conker in a bag of sand in his grandparents’ back garden a few years ago and to everyone’s surprise it has bloomed and blossomed into a young tree.

He approached Droitwich Town Council for help in planting the young tree in Spring Meadow, close to his grandparents’ house.

The Mayor of Droitwich Spa, Coun Bill Moy, and Coun Bob Brookes helped him complete the task.

The mayor also presented Archie with a framed letter, congratulating him on his care and consideration for nature and the environment.

But – at the Droitwich Town Council meeting last night – Coun Moy revealed the tree had been destroyed by vandals.

Coun Bob Brooke’s has offered to provide a replacement for Archie’s tree and the council is awaiting a response.

Anyone with information on the person responsible for the damage should call Droitwich Police on 101.
