DROITWICH Dolphins swimmer Eva Sherrey made club history at the Swim England National Championships as she claimed bronze in the 100m freestyle final in Sheffield.
Sherrey was all smiles as she received her bronze medal from Swim England President Jim Wilkes having broken both the junior and senior club-record times in the process at Ponds Forge International Sports Centre.
The teenager set a new club-record time in her heat before going even faster in the 15-years final to earn a bronze medal in her first appearance at the National Championships.
Club members watched from home, via a live feed of the event, and were full of praise for Sherrey’s efforts.
Head Coach Dave White said: “Eva’s success is a reflection of the hard work that all of the club’s swimmers have put in this season, and I’m looking forward to more success in the future.”
Coun Richard Morris added: “The Dolphins’ achievements are continually phenomenal, well done Eva and also to all those who take part and get involved.
“With Matt [Richards] and Becky [Rebecca Redfern] performing locally at the terrific Commonwealth Games it shows what is achievable from Droitwich for those that want to excel.”
