THE FUTURE of the award-winning Droitwich restaurant All’Angelos is under question after the restaurant flooded for the second time this month.
The flooding on Queens Street comes after Droitwich received heavy rainfall in the early hours of Sunday morning (October 23).
The owner of the Italian restaurant, Angelo Petritaj, is now calling for action from the council to prevent the recurring flooding which damages his property yearly.
“I am not sure if I can survive this time because I really do not have any more funds to keep this going.
“It is pointless to have so many awards and work so hard in our community to hopefully drive more people to the area when you have to pay damages again and again.”

Since the company opened three years ago, the restaurant has flooded seven times, costing the business between 15 to 25 thousand pounds each time the venue gets waterlogged.
The high costs have led to the company taking out loans to pay for the damages from the floods.
However, before the business finishes paying its first loan, subsequent flooding happens, resulting in them having to pay to replace equipment and food.
Angelo has said that the business has received no help from the council, and despite talks of solving the issue, no action has been taken.

Coun Bob Brooks, head of the Droitwich Spa Council, said flooding in the area is a ‘fundamental problem’.
“We are very concerned with the flooding and its impact on local businesses.
“It is under investigation, and we have had a meeting with various parties who have been sent away to think of a solution.”
He added that the group is scheduled to meet to discuss flooding solutions in the affected area next month.
Wychavon council have also planned to send a representative to speak to local businesses affected by the recent flooding and assess the area for immediate action.
The news also arrives after the Droitwich Half Marathon was cancelled early on Sunday morning due to a lot of the route being flooded.
