THE SPOTLIGHT was shone on ‘A Life in Theatre’ when Nick Wilkes gave a presentation to members of Droitwich’s Salwarpe WI last month.
Nick, who trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, has appeared in numerous productions both in the UK and overseas, including classical and contemporary drama, musicals, pantomime and weekly rep.
He has worked with some big name performers, ranging from Charlton Heston and Simon Callow through to Keith Harris and Orville the Duck.
Nick spoke about his childhood, life and how he got to where he was now.
He is currently touring the country in Bill Kenwright’s production of Blood Brothers, playing 15 small roles (teacher and several policemen) with 17 costume changes, in large theatres with huge audiences of around 2,000 people.
The short business meeting which followed the presentation included unanimous agreement to co-opt new Treasurer and MCS Representative, Charlotte Jauncey, on to the committee.
The women said they were very grateful to Charlotte for volunteering to take on the roles.
The competition for ‘Anything Theatrical’ was won by Liz Howard with her opera glasses and programme from the St Petersburg ballet.
