Worcestershire Health Trust launches resources to help parents talk to their children about their mental health

PARENTS can download a range of fun resources to help get their children talking about mental health.

The scheme is being run by the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust as part of Children’s Mental Health Week.

Now We’re Talking is teaming up with the Starting Well Partnership and children’s mental health teams (CAMHS) to encourage conversations with children and young people, through fun activities and games available on a the bespoke children’s mental health website.

The theme of this year’s Children’s Mental Health Week is ‘Let’s Connect’ and the importance of parents and carers taking time to have meaningful conversations about mental health with children and young people in their care.

Activities include a ‘Let’s Connect’ board game, the ‘Wellbeing Fortune Teller’ and the Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing Mind Map

Alongside these downloadable resources there are also helpful posters which map out support available to children, young people and adults which people may also find useful.

The posters are available from the Now We’re Talking website and make it easier to access the right support for children and young people, and their parents and carers.

CAMHS is delivered by the trust which also provides mental health and learning disability services across both counties and runs community hospitals, nursing and therapy and other children’s services across Worcestershire.
