Droitwich stroke club appeals for new volunteers

Droitwich Editorial 21st Apr, 2023   0

AN APPEAL has been launched by Droitwich Stroke Club for more volunteers to help out with the sessions.

The group has been going for 35 years with the meetings taking place every Friday between 10am and 2pm.

Recently, ten members have been meeting at Emmanuel Church as their usual venue – Copcut Court – is being refurbished.

Next Friday, April 29, the meeting will be at the Castle Hotel, there is no meeting on May 5 because of the election count and the group returns to Emmanuel Church on April 12.

Four volunteers are needed to help set up, run skittles games and quizzes, dish up the delivered meals and wash up.

Christine Bowden, who has run the group for the past 20 years, said: “The members who come say it is so beneficial to speak to others who have had a stroke.”

People who have had a stroke are also welcome to go along.

Mayor of Droitwich Spa, Coun George Duffy, visited a recent meeting to find out more and raise awareness of the club.

Potential volunteers and members should call 07922 270027 for more.
