Pupils will be hoping they’ve got the grades they need to progress onto sixth-form, college or other training and employment.

This year’s GCSE results are following a new numerical grading system which scores students from 9 to 1 rather than the previous alphabetical grading of A to E.

Droitwich Spa High School

Leaders at Droitwich Spa High are reporting a competent set of GCSE results this year, with an ‘impressive’ set of individual stand out performances.

The school will also welcome back 23 of their top 25 performing students as part of next year’s sixth form cohort.

Mr Jon Brook, headteacher said : ‘This year’s GCSE results include some very impressive individual performances and it has been a privilege to see so many year 11s enjoying their success today.

“Hopefully next years cohort of sixth form students will go on to emulate this year’s Year 13 students whose results look even stronger than we at first thought last week.

“We must also make sure we credit those students who, while not the top achievers, are nevertheless delighted with their grades because they have done their best, worked industriously, have been open to support and have persevered when things have been difficult.

“There is not doubt that high levels of attendance and hard work really do pay off.”

RGS Dodderhill

Youngsters at RGS Dodderhill students were celebrating another ‘stunning’ set of GCSE results.

Musician and head girl Natasha Rickard achieved ten GCSEs graded 8 and 9, with nine at the top grade 9.

Georgia Houston, who plays Netball for Wasps Netball Academy where she is part of their Player Development Programme, achieved a very strong set of ten GCSEs.

Lucy Bott who starred as Miss Trunchbull in the School’s recent production of Matilda the Musical achieved 9 GCSEs, gaining 8s in both French and Spanish.

Acting Headmistress, Mrs Amelia Cartwright said she was proud of the student’s results.

“Despite the difficulties these pupils have faced with Covid-19 they have done so incredibly well.

“Although we should highlight several exceptional performances achieving the top grades of 9’s and 8’s, I am very proud of this cohort who have faced adversity and showed great resilience to do their very best in this year’s GCSEs.”
