PLAYERS and staff at Droitwich Spa’s pan-disability football team took on a sponsored walk on Sunday to raise vital cash for its travel costs for the 2023/24 season.
The side braved a 12-mile hike along the canal towpath from Droitwich Spa Leisure Centre to Harris Brush in Stoke Prior.
The group raised almost £500 from the walk, which will go towards their £2,500 target.
Formed in 2022 in the town, the club allows players with autism, Aspergers, learning disabilities, mental health and cerebral palsy to play for a local club.
The adult pan-disability football team was the brainchild of Ryan Simpson.
After Droitwich Spa football club returned to the town last August, Ryan messaged them on social media about setting up a pan-disability team.
The pan-disability side played its first-ever game a year ago this month and they have since gone on to represent the town at several tournaments at locations including Northampton Town’s Sixfields Stadium.
