DROITWICH’s Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP) is on course for completion within the agreed financial budgets, the town council heard at a full meeting on Monday (September 25).
The plan was launched in March with a public consultation allowing Droitwich residents to have their say on planning policies and development in the region.
The document, which aims to set the town’s planning vision until 2041, is expected to be completed with two or three years of its launch.
A total of £10,000 has been spent so far on the project, with an expected total cost of £16,500. The council has been awarded a maximum of £18,000 from a Locality Grant to fund the plan.
A questionnaire is currently ongoing until October 31 for residents to give their perspectives and there will be several other opportunities for residents to have their say throughout the process.
The NDP will conclude with a town referendum with a 50 per cent threshold needed to pass the plan.
Once passed, the plan will dictate planning policy and inform Wychavon District Council on how to proceed with proposed applications for development, town centre regeneration, community led projects and more.
It will need to be in line with the South Worcestershire Development Plan (SWDP).
A full interim review of the council’s income and expenditure will be carried out at a meeting on October 9, which will include the costs of the Neighbourhood Development Plan.
