Delve into Chateau Impney's history at latest Civic Society talk

Droitwich Editorial 19th Mar, 2024   0

THE HISTORY of the Chateau Impney and it’s surrounding park will be the topic of conversation for the Droitwich Spa Civic Society’s latest talk.

The Assembling then Dismemberment of the Chateau Deer Park 1845-2020 talk will take place in the Wesley Room at Droitwich Methodist Church on Worcester Road from 7.30pm.

Hosting the event will be Alan Baker, who lived beside the Chateau and its park for many years, seeing various changes over that time.

Wishing to learn more he researched how the estate has changed from 1845, when the Tithe Map was created, to modern times. This illustrated talk delves into his findings.

It will detail some of the land’s earlier owners, how the land was used and the changes in ownership over time, including when John Corbett – the ‘Salt King’ build the Chateau Impney. In more recent times, the grounds have been used for the town’s famous Hill Climb.

Everyone is welcome to attend. Tickets cost £5.
