A DROITWICH gym has reached the national finals of the England Business Awards less than four years after opening.
Former nursery nurse Lisa Cannon, who opened Unity Fitness, won the category ‘Best Health and Fitness Business’ in the regional awards on May, 5.
Nominations came from the pubic and businesses were assessed from numerous ways, including secret shoppers.
Lisa started exercising at 32 and two years later quit her full time job and began a career in the fitness industry.
The gym she worked at permanently closed down after lockdown and Lisa decided to start her own business.
Unity Fitness, based on Rushock Trading Estate was built over a weekend, by Lisa and her friends and family.
The gym is now home to ‘CrossFit Better Together’.
Lisa said: “Our aim is to help, educate and support our members to live a long, happy and healthy life, with both exercise and nutrition playing vital roles.
“Our group classes are designed for anyone regardless of age, gender or fitness level, while meeting individual goals.
“Currently our youngest member is 13 and our oldest 81 years young.
“The nomination for the award was a complete surprise, but I am thrilled our passion is appreciated and I’m incredibly proud to have received recognition.”
Lisa will travel to London for the grand finals in November.
