Art exhibition and workshop with focus on Worcestershire scenery

Droitwich Editorial 13th May, 2024   0

AN ARTIST bringing the Worcestershire scenery to life using pastels will be hosting an exhibit and workshop in Droitwich later this month.

Droitwich Arts Network (DAN) is pleased to be holding an ‘inspiring’ workshop with local artist Wendy SImmons in the Hub, St Andrews Square on Monday, May 20 from 11am to 1.30pm.

Wendy creates her artwork depicting Worcestershire scenes using the medium of pastels to evoke soft strokes and gentle tones in her work. Her technique involves layering highly pigmented pastels to produce landspaces and peaceful atmospheres.

On May 20, Wendy will be demonstrating her artistic process for attendees to watch and learn from, moving from the initialunderpainting to the final touches.

At the exhibition viewers will see Wendy creating a tranquil scene at dawn captured on the outskirts of Droitwich.

Additional fascinating artwork by Wendy can be seen at Droitwich Railway Station, where the creations displayed are of pieces she was commissioned for two years ago.

They feature the aerial landscape pictures of St Peter’s Church and flight of locks at Hanbury Wharf on the Brunel building on the platform.

Everyone is welcome to attend including DAN members and the public. Members of the public are asked to make a small donation to the art network.

The workshop hopes to attract art beginners to encourage them to start a new hobby, through to all capabilities.

The Hub is open Mondays, Fridays, and Saturdays 10am – 4pm.
