Wychavon residents urged to respond to annual electoral register canvassing

Droitwich Editorial 11th Aug, 2024   0

RESIDENTS in Wychavon are being urged to respond to emails, texts and letters asking them to confirm who is registered to vote in their household.

Wychavon has started the annual canvass to make sure the electoral register is accurate.

All households will receive a communication asking them to check everyone over 16 living at the property is on the electoral register. Anyone missing can be added and other errors, such as incorrect name spellings, can be corrected.

Residents who have previously given Wychavon their email address will receive an email from [email protected] containing a link and instructions about how to respond.

Others will receive a text message or a letter.

The canvass is a legal requirement and Wychavon must get a response from every household. Reminders will be sent to anyone who does not respond before in-person visits are carried out to gather the information needed.

Jon Morgan, electoral services manager for Wychavon District Council, said: “It’s important we keep the electoral register up-to-date, and it is as accurate as possible, so people do not lose the chance to have their say at election time.

“Please look out for our emails, texts and letters and respond as quickly as you can. Information about how to respond can be found in the communications we are sending.”
